So you’ve come back to reality with a thud, so the big question is how do we all get back on track and reset your health now life is chockablock with school runs, a thousand things on your to-do lists and the never ending daily grind of mum life?

September is the perfect time to reset, take stock, and get healthy again after the excesses of summer and get your mind and body in tip top condition for the coming winter (gah – can’t even believe I said that!) months.

So as we all get back into the routine of work, school and life, here are 9 small ways to reset your health and become the rebooted mum of your dreams (well, almost!).

Get more sleep

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one in three adults doesn’t get enough sleep. If you’re part of that one, you know all too well have difficult it can be to get a good night’s sleep. Things like scrolling through your phone, binge-watching your favorite TV shows, and stress regularly cut into the amount of sleep many of us get on a regular basis. Furthermore, some of us have been doing them for so long that we’ve established a habit.

A good night’s sleep is a surefire way to reset your health – both in terms of improving mental health as well as fighting obesity and high blood pressure. Start taking the steps now to improve your sleep by avoiding bright lights from TVs and smartphones shortly before bed.

Drink more water

Nearly all of your body’s chemical processes require water to work properly. When you don’t drink enough water, you’re depriving a finely-tuned chemical system of the most important compound it needs to function at a high level.

You might be wondering, “How much water should I be drinking?” That’s where it gets murky. Some say that eight cups of water each day is sufficient for hydration, while others say half of your body weight in ounces does the job. According to the Mayo Clinic, 15.5 cups of water for men and 11.5 cups for women is adequate. If you have trouble drinking water because you don’t like the taste, try an EcoPureHome. You’ll find it’s easier to drink water after it’s been through a purification system.

Stimulate your mind

While it’s not an actual muscle per se, your brain is stimulated and improves function like a muscle. The more you use and push your abilities the quicker your cognitive functions will be. Take a break from watching videos on your phone for a few minutes each day and do a challenging crossword or sudoku puzzle. You’ll find that it’s a great way to give your brain the workout that it needs. These puzzles can help to improve your language fluency and problem-solving ability.

Make minor dietary changes

Snacking can be a major problem when you’re trying to eat healthily. It’s common to get a little hungry between meals and reaching for a quick treat or a small snack can help get you through to the next meal. However, a regular intake of empty snacks that don’t fill you up can eventually be harmful to your overall health.

To improve your health, make some changes to your daily routine by reaching for nuts that are filled with healthy oils. Berries like cranberries or blueberries are filled with natural sugars to fuel your body through the tired parts of the day. They also provide health benefits from antioxidants and vitamin C.

Stock up on supplements

I am a big believer in the power of supplements to reset your health and have recently discovered the best-selling YourZooki supplements range which I am utterly in love with. Stretch regularly

As we age our bodies get stiff. This can lead to injuries from menial activities like walking around the house or lifting a box. Stretching keeps your muscles strong and flexible so that you can continue to move your body freely. Whether you exercise regularly or not, stretching should be a normal part of your routine to maintain overall flexibility.

Adjust your thinking

Both 2020 and 2021 were difficult years for many people. They chewed up the whole world and spit us back out again. The grim state of the world took a major toll on the mental health of many people. So from this month onwards make it a point to think positively and be grateful. With positive thinking and gratitude comes an optimistic view of the world and improved mental health. You’ll find that this positive thinking is a great way to reset your health overall.

Take a walk

Not everybody likes to lift weights or run to get their exercise. Although, this is no excuse for skipping exercise altogether. Get up away from your desk or your couch and go for a walk. Get your body moving to burn some calories by walking around your house or your neighbourhood. If you don’t feel that you have a good place to go for a walk, go to your nearby grocery store or a mall to walk laps.

Take a break

The stress of your everyday life can be wearing on your mental, physical, and emotional health. Take time out of your busy day to focus on your needs to reduce feelings of anxiety and depression before they can creep in. Rest your mind and body with meditation, deep breathing exercises, or even taking a short nap. Afternoon power naps have shown to give the body the rest that it needs to recharge and get through to bedtime. If you’re going to focus on your overall health this month and beyond, it’s important to take time to truly focus on yourself.

How will you reset your health this month?

  1. This has come at just the right time, I think it’s so easy to go off track and wonder where the track even is anymore. I need to improve on all of these! 2. This month I am going to be doing lots of walking with my dog and taking vitamin D, vitamin C and Zinc supplements to try and boost my immune system
