15 things mums really want for Valentine’s Day 2024 update

What does a mum really want for Valentine’s Day? You might be scratching your head, and tearing your hear out about what to get the lady of your life, what could possibly satisfy her or get her in the mood??! but the answers are actually simpler than you think. Here are ten things I reckon mums would be pretty chuffed to be given this Valentine’s Day. If you’re a mum reading this – make sure you leave this page open on their browser for them to “accidentally” see!

Underwear

Not just sexy underwear, but a bra that actually fits her shrivelled three -sizes-down boobs post-baby and doesn’t leave her desperate to free herself from its constraints come the end of the day.

A lie in

Preferably in a hotel room where nobody or nothing (yes small humans I’m talking about YOU!) can disturb you. Ahhhhh sleep beautiful sleep!

Dinner

You don’t need to bother even taking us out for dinner…literally just cook it all and do all the washing up…

Something to make us feel amazing

A hair cut, a massage, some perfume, a facial. Anything to help to help us get that spring back in our step please!

Some quality time

With herself. Not with her loved one. Not her kids. Just her. Doing her own thing. Without anyone demanding anything of her.

A cleaning service

Just imagine – a whole day of not having to clean anything, pick up endlessly after people and have a shiny, sparkling, decluttered house! Which leads me on nicely to the next point….

A laundry subscription service

Heaven is….having someone come around to your house to pick up all that dirty laundry, wash it for you, and finally proove that the bottom of the laundry basket DOES exist!

A lovely date night

Maybe it’s a romantic walk in the hills, wine and chocolates at sunset, or simply just locking the doors and having the whole house to ourselves. Whatever it is, we want one.

Some gratitude

Sometimes all we really want is some thoughtful acknowledgement. We do so much day in day out and just hearing appreciation of that is better than a diamond ring in my book.

A compliment (or two!)

Can you remember the last time you were complimented? Compliments are hard to come by these days, but boy do they make you feel good. Maybe it’s how we look, something we said or what an amazing mum we are. Whatever it is, we want to hear it.

A hand-written love letter

Old school I know! But a handwritten love letter or heartfelt note can be incredibly meaningful and touching and is a lovely way to celebrate everything the special woman in your life is.

Subscription to a meal delivery service

What mum doesn’t want the burden of meal planning and cooking taken off her hands? Pre-prepared meals delivered to my doorstep making my life oh so much easier – yes please!

DIY spa day kit

Sure, every mum would love to escape to an actual real life spa! But the reality of making that happen? Practically impossible. So the next best alternative? Create a spa-like experience at home with a DIY spa day kit. Include luxurious bath salts, scented candles, moisturizing lotions, face masks, and anything else that promotes relaxation and self-care.

Customized photo album or memory book

I am a sucker for these. There is nothing more sentimental that better shows how much love there is in a life than a  personalized photo album or memory book filled with cherished memories and moments you’ve shared together.

A surprise outing!

Who doesn’t love a surprise? Plan a special surprise outing to a place she loves or has been wanting to visit.  Whether it’s a leisurely stroll in the park, a hike in nature, or a relaxing pinic by the lake, this is a great way of spending quality time together in a thoughtful setting.

Do you think the above list of what mums really want for Valentine’s Day is about right? If so go ahead and share it and maybe somehow it will come back to the right person in your life!

  1. Haha! A lie-in without something pressing against her back – yes please! Number 8. would be my pick at the moment, although I wouldn’t be able to choose between the hotel and the mountain, so I’d better just take a hotel ON a mountain.

  2. Ooooh, a lie-in! Yes please!!
We’re all pretty cheap dates by the sound of it…except maybe Robyn with her mountain-top hotel!! 😉

  3. Ha, this is totally what I want for Valentine’s! Although you missed Tom Hardy off the list…a lie in with Tom Hardy even. I wouldn’t mind ‘something’ being pressed against my back then but only if I was wearing the sexy underwear that makes me look like a goddess. Sending this to my hubby for ideas!! #coolmumclub

  5. Oh yes all of those please, especially the lie in. I would actually quite like a fitbit too but I guess that’s not really much of a valentines gift even though it’s something I really want. I mean it’s not a very romantic gift is it lol. Maybe I’m better off wiating until my birthday for one of those?

    Thanks for hosting #coolmumclub 🙂

  6. haha see this is realistic lol. Wine on a tap sounds awesome :P. A interrupted bath wouldn’t go a miss either xx #coolmumclub

  7. Fantastic post! So spot on, especially with the lie in one…. What I wouldn’t give to sleep till about 11 in the morning and not have to worry. #coolmumclub

  8. oh my, the butler…mmmm….now you’ve gone and given me an idea! For me, it would have to be #8- with a good book or Netflix, chocolates and a foot massage….bliss…I think a lot of us mums would be nodding along to your list.

  9. Yee ha to the lie-in and vat of wine! All fingers crossed for dinner and posh chocs too. Just let’s tell them to read your blog (although could you edit out the s&x for a langourous bath and an early night for me please?! xx #coolmumclub

  10. Artisan chocolates oh yes. Have you ever tried Lily O Brian chocs, I swear they are to die for.
Anything small and gold would also work (Fererro Rocher, or jewelrey) #coolmumclub

  11. All of the above. I need that mountain! With chocolate. And wine. And food that I haven’t had to cook or subsequently clean off the kitchen floor / highchair. And sleep. Just sleep.

I hope that the Valentine Gods are kind to you this year x

    Thanks for hosting.

    • Thanks for all the comments everybody! Right so then let’s print this out and stick this on our fridges (perhaps censored tho lol) to make sure we’re all on the same page lol!

  12. Fab list, I’ll be happy with anything really but valentines tends to be a disappointment, he just never remembers and if I have to remind that’s half the magic gone! haha

  13. This list sounds just about perfect, especially the lie in and chocolates, maybe I need to casually send the hubby this list and see if he gets the hint? #coolmumclub x

    • I would love to be able to take a bath without a child walking in on valentines day or any day for that matter.

  14. This is great! I’m going out for a boozy lunch with a group of my besties on Valentine’s Day to a restaurant I love to celebrate one of their birthdays – pretty chuffed with how that’s worked out! #coolmumclub

  15. Haha, this is brilliant! Yes, yes and yes!! I would love for dinner to be cooked without having the pay back of the washing up. And ‘my belly is too full from dinner’ is a common saying in our bedroom – when you eat at 8pm that tends to be the case! That wine on tap looks just splendid, I want it now. X #coolmumclub

  16. I just want to go to the loo on my own ha ha!! Although wine and a lie in would also be great 🙂 xxx

  17. A decent partner to share it with! (Single parent here).
A whole child free day…long lie in
…chilled day without worrying what mischief my little man is upto.
the cooked meal with washing up sounds excellent!
A bubble bath run….chocolate yes alcohol yes.

  18. #CoolMumClub well I haven’t slept properly since 2017 so a lay in would be the goals!!! Not going to happen though with my exuberant 22 month old and almost 4 month old boobie monster!!!

  19. I would love to receive some red roses….but to be honest we have decided not to bother with gifts this year. xxx

  20. Just a simple Cup of Tea in Bed, followed by cuddles and my Children chatting and making me Laugh xx

  21. I would love to win the Luxury Hamper for Two and the Scentsational Marc Jacobs hamper for Valentine’s Day for my other half.

  22. Dinner cooked for me (something really nice, from scratch!), the washing up all done AND the kitchen given the once over. Unfortunately, being a decent cook, I’ve made a rod for my own back if I want us to eat healthily but it honestly feels like such a treadmill sometimes!

  23. Great list! I’d love it all, but especially someone else to cook for me, fed up of cooking every meal, always!

  24. I would just love someone to cook dinner for me on Valentine’s day. What a treat that would be!

  25. I love date nights for valentines day – it’s a nice treat and you don’t have to worry about clearing up afterwards!

  26. I was a stay at home mum when my kids were smaller and it was such a treat to get so ‘me time’ even just going out for a coffee without the kids once in a while! I’m excited about the comfortable bras in the prize selection.

  27. These all are so true! My word I’ve love a ‘me’ day of a lie in and then getting a pamper and a compliment. Ahh what bliss that would be! I also love the sound of the rum, and I do love a nice glass of rum.

  28. Oh my goodness a lie in would be absolute heaven!!! I can’t imagine what it feels like to have one anymore x

  29. All of the items are so thoughtful and would be very welcome! I’m certainly intrigued by the No 1 Bra as I’m all about the comfort 🙂

  30. As a widow with young kids I tend not to get Mother days gifts unless my mum takes the kids to the poundshop. Any of these would be amazing.

  31. Wow what a amazing giveaway and I would love to win this great prize I’m in need of all as I’m a working parent of a 3 year old and it’s non stop but wouldn’t have it any other way fingers crossed liked and shared this great prize and thank you for doing this great competition to

  32. This would be beautiful, I love a good bra! Still looking for ‘the one’ , I also love a good lie in! Priceless 😉

  33. What a great selection. I would love the bra as I find it so difficult to find a comfortable bra that fits properly.

  34. oh, the cleaning service sounds amazing and that’s what the practical side of me would dearly love but I’d love a lie in or dinner cooked for me and no washing up! If only these mum kind of dreams came true..

  35. A lie in & some gratitude wouldn’t go a miss!
I’m currently juggling planning a wedding, on top of normal every day things as well as juggling a 5 and 15 year old, my brain is ready to explode haha!

  36. Some lovely gifts but for me the best one is quality quiet time together with my Valentine. A walk if the weather is fit or just curled up on the sofa if not. A chance to count our many blessings over the many years we have been together.
