An A-Z of why mums are AWESOME!

We all know in our heart of hearts that mums are awesome and this Mother’s Day I thought it was about time we laid down exactly what make us mamas, and our own mamas also, the stars of the universe. I called in fab fellow mama bloggers to help me put together a bit fat dedication to every awesome mum out there in this A-Z of why mums are awesome. Take is away mamas!

A for ALWAYS THERE

No matter what I’m going through my mum is always there, whether its face to face or on the phone. I wouldn’t be the mum I am without her. – Holly Bobbs

B for BEST FRIEND

You will never have somebody else like it in your life. Not just your Mum but your best friend. The one person you can always rely on. – Emma Reed

C for CUDDLES

Everything seems better after a good cuddle with your mum. – Mummy is a Gadget Geek

D for DEDICATION

No other person does as much as a mum can. We gave birth, fed, changed nappies, comforted our children when they were upset, comforted them when they were frustrated, calmed them when they are angry. – The Mum Diaries

E for ENERGY

When they’re babies you need energy to power through the sleepless nights. When they are older, your kids will have loads of energy and even though we’re tired, us mums continue to power through to ensure our kids are happy and fed. To find the time to play and read with them! E is most definitely for energy!! – Twin Mummy and Daddy

F for FIERCE

Mums are fiercely protective of our young. Our instinct is to protect and cherish. Even the quietest, most timid lady becomes a lioness if her babies are at risk. We are ace, Mums! – Family Travel With Ellie

G for GIVING

Mums give it our all! – My Mummy ‘s Pennies

H for HUMOUR

I rely on my, what I believe to be, a good sense of humour. If I didn’t laugh at half the things my kids do especially my teenage son then I fear I may lock them away in a cupboard somewhere. Sharing our laughter brightens up our days no end. – Everyone’s Buck Stops Here

I for IRREPRESSIBLE

No matter how much or how little we sleep, despite the endless amounts of washing, the disgusting poonamis, the lack of pelvic floor muscles or even the inability to ever pee alone again we are happy to be parents and nothing can dull our Irrepressible spirit of joy happiness and love that is being a parent.  – Mummy In a Tutu

J for JUGGLING

We have so much on our plates and we have to keep all the balls spinning and juggle every thing all day every day! – Twinderelmo

K for KISSES

Kisses – a kiss from your mum can make everything better. – Five Little Doves

L for LIFE

Because  life wouldn’t even exist without a mum. That’s pretty awesome!  – All About A Mini Norris

M for MULTI-TASKERS

Multi-tasking is part and parcel of being a parent, however, it is the facilitating of things that make mums stand out. From swapping appointments and activities to juggle a last minute party invitation. To ensuring that homework projects are completed, forms are filled in, signed and returned to school as well keeping the household in clean clothes, food and acceptable living conditions. – Boo Roo and Tigger Too

N for NEVER ENDINGLY LOVING

Whether your a tough love mama, an attachment parent, an arts and crafts/bakesale/do everything to perfection giver or a more laid back ‘do what I can without killing myself’ mama, one thing we all have by the bucket load is love that never ends whether they are a newborn, 10, 20, 30 and so on.  – Absolutely Prabulous

O for OTHER STUFF

Seriously, mums can do all the silly, amazing and down right ridiculous stuff that nobody else can do in the house. Crazy crafts, silly costumes, ridiculous food that looks like animals. All you need to do it wave that magic and your wish will be her mum command! – Motherhood: The Real Deal

P for PATIENCE

….actually, screw that….P is for Prosecco! Now that’s the kind of P  us prosecco loving mums want to hear about on Mothers Day. Patience rewarded with Prosecco, and lots of it please! – Mum Muddling Through

Q for QUICK

Mums are the masters of being quick – quicking thinking and quick problem resolution not to mention quick reflexes! – Just Average Jen

R for RESILIENT

Mums keep going no matter what, through good days and bad because they have to. They are so strong and can bear anything. – Hi Baby Blog

S for SOLDIERS

Whether it’s sleepless nights that take it all out of us or another dinner time battle, even hospital stays or school stresses... we will soldier on and we will fight because these are our kids! – Messy Blog

T for TRUTHFUL

If I ever need an honest opinion I go to my Mum, she is the person I know will not tell me what I want to hear but what I need to hear. – Neon Rainbow Blog

U for UNCONDITIONAL LOVE

Whatever stresses our children put us through, we still love them without condition and that’s a force to be reckoned with! – North East Family Fun

V for VERSATILE

Mums are awesome because they can and do, do everything and anything often all at once – and without even thinking about it. – My Boys Club

W for WINE

Wine, we give it up for a tough 9 months of pregnancy, and drink it sparingly when breastfeeding. Both are tough times when sitting down with a nice chilled glass of Pinot would be bliss. – New Mummy Blog

X for X-RAY VISION

Yup, mum always know what you are up too! – Witty Hoots

Y for YOUNG AT HEART

Mums are busy souls, always rushing around to get a million jobs done at once. But with kids, you need to be able to stop ‘adulting’ once in a while and take a sip from that empty plastic tea cup, answer that imaginary phone (which is usually the TV remote or similar) or have ‘intelligent’ conversations with a row of cuddly toys … because that’s what us mums do! Stay in touch with the child within! – Hart of the Munchkin Patch

Z for Zzzzzzz

Z is for zzzz’s, of which we survive on very little. Or none. – The Mumzilla

So let’s hear it for all us mamas, and all your mamas because mums…you are awesome!

  1. wow reading this makes me realise how i didnt appreciate what my own mum did for me when i was a teenager and full of angst. Now I am a mother myself and realise what a tough, demanding emotional rollercoaster it is, I have a whole new level of respect for her in guiding me through life in such an amazing way. For me, I especially love ‘W” xx #coolmumclub

  2. The sheer volume of “O” that goes on is mind blowing isnt it? It definitely calls for a whole lot of “P” (the fizzy sort hehe). #coolmumclub x

  3. I love this list, especially X. For e I’d have to put eyes in the back of our heads. I had my son convinced for years that this was literal. He honestly believed that as soon as people had children they developed another set of eyes that were invisible

  4. So much #coolmumclub love for this post! I will certainly be raising a glass of the P on Sunday and toasting every one of us!
    Thanks for having me 😉

  5. Aww lovely! Mum’s are the best. Mine is my hero…she is always there for me, even now and she is 81! #coolmumclub

  6. This is a great list. I’d just substitute the wine for chocolate or perhaps some of that marshmallow & rice cereal cake. #coolmumclub

  7. What a fantastic post! I couldn’t agree more! I never realised how good I was at multitasking until I had Rory! It’s an essential part of been a mother! #coolmumclub

  8. This is a great post! My personal favourite is probably F for Fierce. Since becoming a mum, I’ve discovered a fierceness I never had before. It must be that animal instinct of protecting your cubs, haha! #CoolMumClub
