Huggle: Can an app really find you a friend?

Being a mum can be a lonely business….in between the constant chasing of your tail, somehow you just rarely have the time to coordinate meetings with friends and when you do it all becomes so convoluted with the complexities of geography that you wonder why you tried in the first place.

But what if you could make friends with people at the places you already go to? Like your regular cafe, or local park, or your gym …? Wouldn’t that make life so much easier? YES! I hear you all chime in unison.

Well then let me introduce you to a new app called Huggle.  Huggle is the new social app that lets you discover and connect with the people who go to the places you go to and connects you to like-minded people at the places you love to go.

As well all know, having places in common is a great icebreaker and meeting someone who has similar interests or goes to the same places as you, is a great conversation starter too. It’s just somehow when we are at these places we are usually crippled by some strange social anxiety when speaking to these people when we are actually there, silly humans that we are! Hmmm…so this sounds like the extra little push we all need.

At first look I’m already amazed that there are people who have been apparently hanging out in the same places as me in my little leafy suburb of West London…we’re talking my favourite coffee shop, park, um….library even! not to mention spots I often visit on days out with the little missy – soft play anyone? Suddenly it’s like a whole other world has opened up to me!

And before the doomsayers jump on board with safety warnings, fear not! Thankfully Huggle is the first app in the UK to provide safety features, such as it’s one minute photo verification and hyper-local technology, which automatically picks up users’ locations and stops fake check-ins so no random people can see your list of places only you. And you can only message people if you have a place in common. Very clever indeed.

Anyone fancy an afternoon coffee? Or a joint trip to the local National Trust? Or a sneaky smoothie after Zumba class? I don’t know about you, but I’m off to go and message my local cafe lovers to find out if someone fancies a huggle now…

Picture below: what I’m hoping I’ll look like after I’ve enjoyed a bit of a huggle…

  1. I joined the app too and was amazed by the experience I had. It is so nice to meet new people especially when you don’t know many people in your area. Also good luck to you for the prize, here is hoping we both bag a cash prize 🙂 xxx
