Mission impossible: Hilarious toddler crib escapes!

Parenthood, parenting, toddler

Truth be told, I am still absolutely gob-smacked that there has been no crib-climbing in our house to date (probably due to my self-professed love of sleep sacks), but it was this precise amazement that had me recently ogling at toddlers escaping their cots on You Tube, and wow…do some of them have a slick routine!

I thought it would be rude not to share some of their talents with you, and so now for your entertainment, I present you with a smorgasbord of smart, lunatic and pioneering toddler crib escapes!

The well-oiled machine

Sheer ingenuity here – seriously check out the detail in this escape…folding over the mattress, slithering out through that little gap underneath those bars (WTF???!) and then pushing the cot over to his new found bouncy castle of a bed. This is no normal “over the top” escape route. Hmmm…what makes you think this little fella has done this before?

The dynamic duo

Wow, who would have thought two toddler twins could exemplify such beautiful teamwork. Well, of course the stakes were high – toddlers will do anything to get their beloved dummy back after all….

The loony escape

Although this toddler’s intelligent master plan is somewhat watered down by his seeming lunacy, if you scratch the surface, this escape is slicker and more genius than you might give it credit for…

The pioneer breakout

The dynamic between twins never ceases to amaze – just check out the ring leader of this escape show. A true leader in the making!

Does your toddler love to make a crib get away? And if so, have you ever caught them in the act? Do share you crib bolting stories in a little comment…

  1. We only had a sound monitor to listen to the muchkin, but I often wished we had gone with a video one. She only made it out once, ending in a fairly high face plant, but did get her leg stuck over the rail once. I still have no idea how she managed to vault herself over the top, but the lesson seemed to have gotten learned

  2. So cute and funny. I was really touched by the dynamic duo helping each other out. Love it (but please do not allow my littley to see these clips. I do not needing him getting any tips!) ;0)

  3. I love the twins ones. The big one never escaped, but I fear it is only a matter of time with the little one. He is a climber and I don’t think the sleeping bag will stop him! Thanks for linking up to #FridayFrolics Happy New Year! x

  4. My children are not this intelligent …Thank goodness! I particularly like the boy creating a soft play area to jump onto, he appreciates health and safety, my kind of child. Highly entertaining to watch #FridayFrolics

  5. Haha – amazing! Toddler moved into a bed around two years, having never reached the point of trying to escape cot. Baby has only quite recently taken up sleeping alone in her cot, rather than with me. I suspect that she will start trying to escape at some point – she’s a climber – and we’ll have to change it into a bed early. #fridayfrolics

  6. I’m still shocked that I haven’t had any of my kids break out of their cribs! These are impressive… and a little scary thinking that a little guy could do something like that! But hopefully you and I won’t have to worry about that happening! #fartglitter

  7. Only my oldest had a crip seperate from my bed, and he never was a climber. 🙂 My other two had side cart bed, so they never had a side on the bed, it was attached to my bed (still is). 🙂
