How to spruce up your home and garden for National BBQ Week

BBQ season is well and truly upon us, and this National BBQ Week we’re teaming up with Conservatory Makeovers – who have been installing elegant, modern home improvement products to South West homes for decades – with some ideas on how to get your home ready for the big B, laying the foundations for the perfect summer cookout and a Nationl BBQ Week to remember!

If you’re thinking of holding a summer BBQ party, then of course the focus is on throwing an outdoor event that everybody will love. But as we know, the weather is not always on your side, which means if you have a conservatory then you are in it to win it, as these make a great addition to your BBQ HQ. Simply put, a conservatory enables you to take your BBQ prep and serving to the next level whether it’s a big family bash or more intimate gathering.

Give me shelter!

So you’ve gone to all that effort of putting on an amazing BBQ spread, only to be rained on or left melting in the sunshine. This is when the shelter of a conservatory comes to the rescue! Conservatory areas are not only a wonderful space for entertaining but also provide the reliability of somewhere perfectly dry/shaded should the heavens open and drown us out or another heat wave sweep our fair isle.

Simply shift the party indoors for the best of both worlds without having the weather rain (or melt) on your parade.

You can also dress up your conservatory to add a party vibe whether you go for a Hawaiin or vintage theme or a more sophisticated enchanted look. It’s amazing what some bunting/string fairy lights/vases containing blooms/stylish tableware and linens can do to transform a space!

If you’re lucky enough to already have a conservatory but it’s in need of some updating, now is a great time to look at ways of up leveling it, including replacing your conservatory roof with a solid roof replacement, or adding a set of French doors to connect your home and garden seamlessly. Perfect for letting your BBQ guests mill around freely between the inside and outside, or chat to you without getting choked up on smoked while you’re busy BBQing.

Summer is a great time to refurbish your conservatory and have it looking and feeling its best. Of course, there are practical reasons too like ensuring it will be ready for winter weather and so that it will be as energy-efficient as possible in time for the great Winter of discontent energy crisis that will be waiting for us during the months ahead.

Nail your BBQ station space

As always with a BBQ, preparation is key. And that means having your BBQ space all set up ensuring that everything is within arm’s reach. You don’t want to be running around looking for those tongs just as the sausages are ready to come off!

Be sure to set up a nearby table with everything you need including all your marinades, herbs and spices, cooking utensils etc. Meanwhile, in your conservatory you can have all the plates, serving dishes, glasses, cutlery plus drinks station good to go.

  1. I love al of these ideas so much! Bakcyard bashes are a ton of fun, but I think they can be so much better than just food on plates in the backyard.

  2. I think I like the idea of a vintage theme with string fairy lights. That sounds awesome.

  3. I love barbeque! Next year we are going to remodel our patio and garden area. I`ll try to find those fantastic light balloons for next summer!
