Every year at Christmas, friends and family members send children books as gifts. Books make great Christmas gifts for kids since they’re inexpensive, provide mental stimulation and teach children valuable life skills. Kids learn by reading and have a lot of fun doing so, providing a wealth of knowledge and entertainment.. Making books part of their holiday traditions ensures kids grow up with a love of books.

Children usually love to receive books

Children are hard to buy for, but the gift of books is a sure winner. Reading can help children learn new things. Keep in mind that kids love certain genres such as mystery, humor, and adventure books. If you need some ideas for your child’s Christmas wish list then head over to Books2Door which have a brilliant Christmas selection this year.

Kids can choose from any of the countless Christmas classics, but classic children’s literature includes A Christmas Carol, The Night Before Christmas and The Snowman and the Little Dog’s Christmas Story.

A good investment

Books can be read again and again, which makes them a good investment. Some of the best books for children have been around for decades, or even centuries! Books make ideal gifts for children at Christmas because they’re inexpensive, fun and easily accessible.

Giving the gift of literacy

There is no better gift to give to a child than a gift of literacy, literature, or a lifelong love of reading. By giving a book to a child, not only are you contributing to their lifelong love of literature, but you are passing on a gift that they will most likely cherish forever. When you give a book to a child for Christmas, you are really giving them a lot more than that. When giving a book to a child, you can make it more meaningful by personalizing it and writing a little message inside.

The joy of personalised books

Custom childrens books can make your kid a hero in the story, including his or her photo, name, and other details that entwine him or her in the story. When you pair classic children’s books with custom stories, it allows kids to explore their own identities, learn about the world around them, and build compassion and curiosity. A book is a gift not just to entertain kids, it provides a fictional escape and fantastical getaway, it is a gift to friends.

The feeling of getting lost in a book

Whether you were given a YA novel that really treats the younger readers like they are a YA, or a grown-up book your parents trusted you to read, books were that Christmastime one book that made you feel both like a child and an adult. If you were anything like me growing up, you loved getting lost in your own thoughts and imagination, so books were the best gifts to get yourself when you were young. I know it is a bit early, but these kids books that inspire kids dreams will make the perfect holiday gifts to give as magical reads over Christmas.

The ability to entertain for hours

I always like presents that will entertain the kids for hours, so books are right up there in my list of entertaining gift ideas. It is great that books are such an important part of their lives, and at Christmas parents and children get to spend some time reading together. The comforting familiarity of a well-loved story, the rhymes, pacing, and repetition of so many picture books, as well as the feeling of safety fostered by the time spent reading together, all contribute to fostering an appreciation for books, and an appreciation of reading.

Creating a lifelong love of reading

If you have a reader struggling, these ideas can excite him or her about books and can push him or her toward a lifelong love of reading. Kids reference books, such as DKs Reference Series, and graded readers that focus on topics a child enjoys may help spur the reluctant reader past his or her hesitancy. I have found kids reference books very effective for pushing, as kids naturally enjoy learning about something that interests them.    Show Source Texts

I know I have mentioned it before — but giving kids incentives for reading such as these could be the way you get your child hooked on books. Starting with making books a daily part of a kid’s life helps to teach kids the value of books, as well as stories. Reading books that have these characteristics helps to direct a child’s attention toward themselves, increasing their confidence and sense of belonging along the way.

  1. Books are fantastic way of making learning fun and feeding their imagination. I loved the magic of books as a kid how they could carry me away to magical lands, having great adventures.

  2. Books are an amazing gift, they can be treasured and used for bonding. I remember reading to my little one who then learnt the book off by heart. Now she is older she can read it herself to her baby cousin, it’s really sweet to watch.

  3. Books are brilliant for down time. Just to sit and concentrate on a story for a while with a parent or on their own calms a child down especially for bedtime

  4. My kids love being read to and because my son has just discovered reading himself, he loves getting new books and reading to us. I do think books are a great Christmas presents because you can reuse them over and over again. It expands a kid’s vocabulary and helps them read more books to educate them further

  5. I love sharing some of my old favourites with my children at Christmas and hopefully oneday they can do the same

  6. Books are a great gift for children because it keeps them off their devices for a start and helps them learn new vocabulary and correct grammar. It’s lovely to get lost in a book away from the busy world for a while x
