Step inside Enchanted Eltham Palace with English Heritage

It’s that wonderful time of year when the nights are closing in, and the nation starts opening up after dark in a host of unforgettable experiences which can only be associated with the coming winter months.

As a Londoner, it’s a question of knowing what’s on when, and so if you’re based in London, or on the outskirts, or perhaps you’re planning a trip down to London to embrace the festivities, then oh my word I need to let you into a wonderful secret…. and it’s happening closer to you than you may think – Enchanted Eltham Palace!

Happening as part of a series of Enchanted Events being put on by English Heritage at their historic places, this Christmas time, this amazing art deco jewel with its incredible building and beautiful landscaped gardens which is truly one of London’s hidden gems, will be opening up  after dark in a winter fairy-tale of light, colour and sound and by the looks of things, it is going to be absolutely stunning.

A magical time this Christmas at Eltham Palace with English Heritage

Expect strings of lanterns laced through the boughs of trees and fairy lights twinkling behind leaves leading you along an enchanting garden trail into a magical illuminated wonderland – perfect for exploring with the fam. I promise you (and the littles!) will have to pinch yourself as you’re transported into a magical land away from the hustle and bustle of inner city London attractions at this time of year.  Can you feel the magic already?

If not, let me tempt you further. You will also be able to look forward to all your favourite festive experiences including tucking into mince pies and mulled wine, and Christmas shopping at the heritage-inspired shop. So pull on your knits,  get wrapped up warm, get your camera and family at the ready (I’m thinking some perfect Insta opportunities!) and let all your senses be indulged against the backdrop of this stunning site created for decadence at this magical Christmas event.

And if that’s not enough…it will also be a  wonderful way to get a little bit of history education in too as you discover the medieval history of Henry VIII’s childhood home (yes, did you know he spent much of his childhood there?) as you follow the illuminated trail in the grounds of Eltham Palace after dark, take a sneak-peek through the mysterious time tunnel and see history brought to life.

Enchanted Eltham Palace takes place from 4.30pm – 9pm from Friday 15th – Saturday 23rd December making it a perfect way to get into the festive spirit for the whole family. Tickets are £12 for an adult, £7.50 for a child, or £31.60 for a family ticket (2 adults, 2 children). Discounts are available for English Heritage members (£10 adult, £6 child). 1. I’m keeping this in mind when we next visit London, especially since we are also members of the English Heritage. This looks like something T would very much enjoy and us too 😉

  2. We do have an English Heritage membership we need to send off for and this may be just the thing to kick start our visits. Oh I am so excited for Christmas now.

  3. I have never heard of this before it looks so beautiful and not a bad price either! So gutted I don’t live closer to London, it costs me a small fortune to get down otherwise I would definitely go to this
