A child’s first words are one of the wonder of all wonders we experience in parenthood. Like probably many of you, I have a notebook tucked away with my child’s first milestones, where I keenly scribbled a list of my child’s first words until I lost track. Tucked away safely until now, when someone said to me, why don’t you use it to make a word cloud? I thought – interesting idea. And so I did, with some obvious, and less obvious words to feature there. How do you think this would compare to a word cloud of a list of your child’s first words?
N.B You may have to give the image below a little click so you can see it better if your eyes are fading a little bit like mine…!
Do you think a word cloud of your child’s first words would look different? Or would there be some surprising differences in there?

I love love love this idea! Baby Boy Wonder is not yet talking (almost 10 months so not there yet!) but I can’t wait until he starts chattering away. I love the idea of doing a word cloud and will definitely be aiming to do such a thing. Hopefully I remember to jot it all down..good intentions and all that!
Do it – it’s a really wonderful way to look back on how amazing their language formation is….!
What a lovely way to record their first words! Sadly with my boys some of their first included ‘Poo’ ‘Wee’ ‘willy’ and for one of them a rude word I won’t repeat…due to a little bit of road rage from me lol!

Hahah now that would make an interesting word cloud! x
Such a good idea! I will definitely be doing this. My daughter is only eight months and so far we only have Mama and Dada so this post has come at the perfect time for me! #bestandworst
It’s really cute and there a few word cloud generators online which you can do it with. It’s a nice way to look back when they are onto sentences to look back at the early stages of formation….x
My son’s first word was ‘Tigger” (as in the bouncy tiger from Winnie the Pooh). Well, to be honest, he didn’t so much say the word as bounce around doing an impersonation whilst emitting a repeated sound that we choose to believe was the word Tigger…… His second word was “biscuit” and his third was “car”. He didn’t get around to saying “Mummy” for years! #bestandworst
Because obviously Tigger and biscuit are much more important in the eyes of a toddler haha 😉
I love this! Why didn’t I see this 12 months ago? Would have made a good scrapbook page! Duck was one of our firsts. Thanks for sharing with #bestandworst and see you again.
Never too late lovely – great way to reminisce! x
That is a lovely idea, my son started asking me recently what his first words were, but obviously wanted a list of the first one hundred rather than the first ten which I had written down 🙁 I will do this for number two! #bestandworst http://www.rokingmummysworld.wordpress.com

What a fantastic idea. Not sure some of my daughters first words would make for a great word cloud though – she used to call hair clips ‘bitches’!
