I don’t know about you but I have really been feeling all over the shop since the restrictions have been lifting. Life seems to be busier than ever as a parent, and I honestly feel like my head is in a total spin! My brain just can’t seem to adjust back to all the moving parts we need to navigate through in this new normal. Inbetween a diary crammed up with seeing and doing, appointments, family commitments and life in general, managing the household, keeping the whole family organised, keeping on track of finances and more, if you are feeling like you are chasing your tail right now know this: you are not alone.

What is the Curve Card and how can it help you?

I like to think of Curve – which is totally free – as my personal financial concierge. Billed as the only card you need to carry the Curve Card is a genius payment card that aggregates all your payment cards (except Amex) and loyalty cards through its accompanying mobile app.

This allows you to make payments and withdrawals from a single card.

You can see all of your spending in the app, which is available for iOS and Android, and you can even use it as a way of spending on your credit card in places that don’t officially take credit cards.

So what else can the Curve Card do?

When paying with Curve you can change the card you used for a payment two weeks later. This is a feature I have made LOADS of use of because I have a card for my personal account and a joint account with Mr C and I will often get muddled and pay for things using the wrong account which can leave me in the dog house and make things tricky for tracking expenses related to my businesses. In a nutshell, you can do your everyday spending on it then ‘go back in time’ by up to 90 days, to change the card you used for a purchase.

You can also lock your card and get PIN reminders in-app. As someone that loses or misplaces her cards/forgets her pins too many times to mention, this is a lifesaver! If you lose your card, you can freeze it in the app, and unlock it later if you find it again. You can also get a PIN reminder by entering your password or using your fingerprint ID in the app.

Did somebody say rewards?

Hands up if you love collecting rewards? Then you will love Curve. As a Curve cardholder, you receive 1% instant cashback every time you spend with your Curve Mastercard® at retailers of their choice. You can pick from a list of over 100 retailers in the UK and abroad, including Amazon, Tesco, Waitrose, TfL and more. I was super happy with this as do pretty much all of my shopping at Amazon and our local Waitrose!

Who is Curve good for?

Curve is great for busy parents – and especially overwhelmed mums – constantly chasing their tails and trying to get a clear overview of their spending. It’s a super-easy way to simplify your life and finances and bring all of your spending (and reward earning) into one place to help you manage your money better. I am usually completely chaotic with my finances – paying with the wrong cards, forgetting my pins, and generally hauling a messy cacophony of cards around in my wallet that feels like a brick.

All of that has become a thing of the past since I’ve had my Curve card. I have actually been leaving my whole wallet at home and have just been taking my Curve card out with me – or sometimes just my phone to use the app for payment – and it is completely liberating let me tell you! Plus I now know exactly what I am spending on each card (scary but necessary!), plus if I am having a brain fart moment and forget my pin (standard), I can just securely look up my pin on the app.

And as I mentioned above, Mr C does not take well to me paying for my own personal indulgences on the family account, so when I have a whoopsie moment and accidentally pay for my online clothes shopping bonanza or pedi with the family account card, I can quickly smooth things over my going back in time and moving the payment back to my own personal account.
