Hey there, fellow parents! It feels like just yesterday that we were decorating our little one’s nursery with soft pastels and adorable animal-themed wallpaper, doesn’t it? But time flies, and before you know it, your precious baby is now a tween with evolving tastes, opinions and tween attitude! And you’re here looking for tween bedroom ideas. Well that’s precisely the situation we found ourselves in with our E now she is 10.
E was growing up fast, and it was clear that her bedroom needed a makeover to reflect her changing interests and personality. What to do? We embarked on an exciting journey to transform her bedroom from a babyish haven into a stylish space that’s perfect for a tween of course. In this article, we’ll share our experience and some fantastic tween bedroom ideas that worked wonders for us.
1. Tween Bedroom Ideas – Declutter and Reset First:
Our journey began with a good old decluttering session. Over the years, Emma had accumulated countless toys, stuffed animals, and knick-knacks. We involved her in the process and encouraged her to decide which items she wanted to keep, donate, or toss. It was a valuable lesson in organization and responsibility.
2. Choose a Neutral Base:
We decided to repaint the walls with a neutral colour and go for one bright feature wall. A soft, muted shade of cream provided the perfect backdrop for a more mature aesthetic. E choose a vibrant blue for the feature wall. It’s important to pick a colour that will grow with your child and serve as a canvas for changing decor elements. And remember, the choice is theirs!
3. Bedroom Furniture Update:
One of the most noticeable changes was in the bedroom furniture. We upgraded E#s bed to a stylish and functional high-rise sleeper complete with cupboards, drawers and a desk. This not only provided more space for sleepovers and storage but also added a touch of elegance to the room. It took us an age to build so if you’re going flatpack I would highly recommend paying someone else to do this for you!
4. All-in-One High-Rise Bed for Space Efficiency:
If you’re dealing with limited space in your tween’s bedroom, an all-in-one high-rise bed could be a game-changer. These multifunctional beds are designed to maximize space utilization while offering a stylish and functional solution. We found this to be a brilliant addition to E’s room, and it addressed several needs in one go.
Storage Solutions: High-rise beds often come with built-in drawers and shelves underneath, providing valuable storage space for clothes, toys, and other essentials. These features helped E keep her room tidy, as she could easily stow away her belongings. The wardrobe has meant that she can actually see what clothes she has rather than always complaining she can’t find anything!
Study Area: Many high-rise beds include a desk or study area beneath the bed, which is perfect for homework, reading, or creative projects. This dedicated space encouraged E to focus on her studies and be more organized.
Space-Saving Design: The vertical design of these beds is ideal for small rooms. It creates more floor space, making the room feel less crowded and more open.
Transitioning to Adulthood: These beds are versatile and can grow with your child. As your tween becomes a teenager and beyond, the desk area can be adapted for use as a vanity or a workspace for hobbies and interests.
High-rise beds are a fantastic solution for small bedrooms where maximizing every square inch is crucial. They offer a comfortable sleeping area, plenty of storage, and a dedicated space for study and creativity, all in one stylish package.
In our experience, choosing an all-in-one high-rise bed was one of the best decisions we made during E’s bedroom transformation. It not only saved space but also made her room more organized, functional, and tailored to her specific needs.
So, if you’re short on space but still want to provide your tween with a comfortable and stylish bedroom, consider the all-in-one high-rise bed as an option. It’s a practical investment that can adapt to your child’s changing needs and make the most of the space available.
5. Wall Art and Posters:
E’s interests were evolving, and she wanted her bedroom to reflect her passions. We allowed her to choose some wall art and posters that spoke to her style. Whether it’s a poster of their favourite band, inspiring quotes, or their own artwork, these additions helped the room feel more like their own.
6. Personal Touches:
Tweens love to add their personal touch to their space. Let your tween choose some decorative cushions, a cozy throw blanket, and a variety of scatter cushions for their bed to make it feel cozier and uniquely theirs.
7. Mature Bedding:
We selected a more mature bedding set with a sophisticated design that E loved – one set in leopard print and another in a pink/blue ombre. It was a small change but made a big difference in transforming her room.
The transformation was truly remarkable, and Em couldn’t have been happier with her “new” room. It’s no longer just a place to sleep but a reflection of her personality, interests, and growing sense of independence.
Our journey to create the perfect tween bedroom was a wonderful experience, filled with bonding moments and shared creativity. It’s a reminder that as parents, our role evolves as our children do. We hope these tween bedroom ideas inspire you on your own transformation journey. Remember, it’s not just about updating the decor; it’s about creating a space where your tween feels comfortable, inspired, and truly at home.
