Autumn Must Haves In My Home

I am not a girl who does well in the heat. I love Autumn time. The crisp mornings, the anticipation of Christmas around the corner. I am also a homebody and love a cosy night in. So these are my Autumn must haves in my home.

Autumn must haves

1 Renewable Heat Sources

I don’t have this, but I would love it. One option is a Viessmann heat pump. Heat pumps are highly efficient heating systems that work by transferring heat from the outside environment into your home. Unlike traditional boilers, which burn fuel to create heat, heat pumps simply move existing heat – from the air, ground, or water – using electricity. The heat pump systems harness renewable energy from the ground, sun, groundwater or air. Plus they can be used in Summer to also pump cool air into your home. It would definitely save on the thermostat arguments in my house!

2 Hot Water Bottles

I love a fluffy hot water bottle. It’s like a giant warm hug.

3 Cosy Blankets

Fleece, chunky knit, furry. I don’t mind which. But sitting on the sofa in the Autumn and Winter months always needs a blanket for ultimate cosy vibes.

4 Hot Chocolate

I’m not a coffee drinker. So in Autumn I like to sample as many hot chocolate flavours as I can. Current favourite is salted caramel and clementine. And yes, that is one flavour, not two. It is devine. Especially with a cheeky flake melted in the cup.

5 Strictly

Nothing says Autumn has arrived quite as much as the start of Strictly. I am a super fan. My perfect night in is curled up on the sofa with my blanket, drinking hot chocolate and watching all the glitz and glamour on Strictly.

6 Soft Lighting

I am not a ‘big light’ person. It’s soft ambient lighting for me. Even better in December when the fairy lights come out, and make everything feel a little bit magical.

7 Slow Cooker Dinners

I love that feeling of knowing dinner is already taken care of when you’ve had a busy day. I also love a one pot meal as there is so much less to clean up. The slow cooker is an essential item in our house for Winter warmers and yummy comforting dinners.

8 Winter Wardrobe

Chunky knits, scarves and boots. I just find an Autumn and Winter wardrobe so much easier than a Summer wardrobe. Although my boot collection may have gotten out of control.

9 Fresh Starts

September has always felt like more of a fresh start to me then new year. As a kid it was new stationery and fresh clean workbooks to write in. I still use an academic diary, because I like a new start in September without the Christmas hangover that comes with New Year.

10 Bubble Baths

A nice soak with my favourite bath bomb and an audio book or podcast. Yes please. Do not disturb.

  1. Walks on a crisp autumn day, with crispy leaves underfoot is definitely my favourite part. Closely followed by that early morning smell in late October/early November from last night’s fireworks / bonfires. Bliss.
