A new study by the coupon site BravoVoucher has identified the most popular brands that UK consumers look to for birthday freebies, with Krispy Kreme taking the top spot.
The research analysed Google search data across 78 UK cities to reveal which restaurant and food chains receive the most interest from Britons seeking birthday treats.

Donuts
According to the findings, Krispy Kreme ranks as the most sought-after birthday freebie brand with 2,463 average monthly searches. The doughnut chain, which has more than 127 retail stores and appears in around 1,600 grocery stores, offers a free doughnut to customers on their birthday.
How to claim:
To claim a free birthday doughnut, all you need to do is join Krispy Kreme’s loyalty programme, called Krispy Kreme Rewards. Each year you will be sent an email close to the date. This can’t be redeemed in a grocery store, and must be from an actual Krispy Kreme location.
Coffee
Coffee giant Starbucks, which has more than 1,350 stores in the UK, placed second with 1,697 average monthly searches. Customers can claim a complimentary handcrafted beverage, food item, or bottled beverage during their birthday month.
How to claim:
To be eligible for a Starbucks birthday reward, you need to follow a few specific steps: 1. You must be a Starbucks Rewards member for at least seven days prior to your birthday; 2. Add your birthday to the app; 3. Make at least one Star-earning transaction prior to your birthday each year.
Costa Coffee followed closely in third position with 1,568 monthly searches. The UK’s largest coffee chain, which has more than 2,671 locations and 15,000 self-serve machines, offers app users a free drink during their birthday month through its Costa Club rewards programme.
How to claim:
Download the Costa Coffee rewards app and sign up for the Costa Club. You should receive an email with a code for a free sweet treat on your birthday. The voucher is valid for seven days.
Lunch
Sandwich chain Subway ranked fourth with 1,303 monthly searches. The chain, which has more than 2,100 stores in the UK, offers customers a free cookie on their birthday.
How to claim:
All you need to do is sign up for Subway’s reward programme, Subway Rewards. You’ll receive one free cookie code in the app around your birthday.
Chocolate
Hotel Chocolat completed the top five with 1,143 monthly searches. The popular chocolate retailer offers VIP members special birthday discounts.
How to claim:
Download the Hotel Chocolat app and register for the VIP Club. Around your birthday you should receive a £5 voucher, which is redeemable against a purchase of £5 or more. This offer is one of the few that can also be redeemed online.
