Are you getting excited about Halloween in your house? We are big fans of Halloween here and have been discussing Halloween costumes for months now! I have been wanting to go as Cruella De Vil – the ultimate Disney villain and the main antagonist of the 101 Dalmatians franchise – for years now. Problem is that I’d never really gotten organised enough to rock the Cruella De Vil look so so I would typically end up as a zombie, witch or black cat of some description.
This year we started earlier than normal though as we really wanted to make up for lost Halloweens due to Covid. I told my daughter that as soon as my birthday was over with on 7th October, we could get the Halloween decorations up and start preparation in earnest.
Channelling my inner Cruella
Known for her chic and stylish, but noisy and flamboyant demeanor, Cruella is stingy, snooty, and mentally unstable. She suffers from violent mood swings and is incredibly ungenerous to the point of psychopathy. A London heiress, Cruella is wealthy and has been on Forbes Fictional 15 for quite a many years. Well channelling her shouldn’t be too hard then as I can just pretend I’m a mum having a bad day.
Her one love in life is fur coats. She adores fur, “absolutely lives for it,” and the fur that she is most obsessed with? Dalmation of course!
Dressing like Cruella
Cruella is synonymous with a number of high fashion looks. So for a Cruella De Vil look think scarlett red, figure hugging black dresses and of course….fur and plenty of it!
I’m still toying with which look to go with. The first is put together using one of Femme Luxe’s bodycon black dresses with their cream oversized blazer finished off with red ankle boots and a dalmatian print style made from some material I bought on ebay.
The second is a little switcheroo of the above look with a red belted one-shoulder jumpsuit, finished off with black heels instead.
Finishing off the Cruella De Vil look
On Halloween itself, there will be plenty of red lipstick, plus I have also bought some white hair spray to create that trademark shock of white hair to finish off my Cruella De Vil look. And don’t forget that long fake cigarette holder, which I will probably make at home using paper (let’s hope it doesn’t rain people!) and satin gloves which I still need to locate at the back of my wardrobe!
Having fun safely this Halloween
Whatever you decide to go as this Halloween, remember that Covid is still with us. You can stay safe by trying to stick with outdoor trick-or-treating in small groups. The virus is much less likely to spread outside than in poorly ventilated indoor spaces.
What do you think of my Cruella De Vil look? I’d love to hear your thoughts in a comment below.

Such a fun look! So many people are going to go with Cruella this year, after the movie was so popular, I’m sure.
I think both of these looks are perfect! I would instantly know who you’re dressed as when I see it.
You both look great! You really have the bone structure to pull off that look, too. I can see you chasing down puppies for their fur. I mean that in a good way, obviously! LOL.
I think you two look great with your costumes. Gotta check out Femme Luxe for more like this
I love the look and how you two look confident in your costumes!
THIS is such a fun idea! I would for sure do this!
I think that you look fabulous. I had an event today that they were hoping I would dress up for it but I just couldn’t get into it
I love your Cruella DeVil look! It’s such a well-done costume.
We need to be careful this Halloween. These are great looks for Halloween and I like the black white and red colors.
I love this Cruella De Vil look! No fuss. Very direct and straightforward. Love the styling! Perfect for Halloween!
Hhhhmmmm…I love it! It’s perfect! And so divine. COVID has really done a number on all of us but I am glad you are getting back out there!
