Prom do’s & don’ts! Things you need to know before prom 2023 guide

Prom do's & don'ts

Prom season is quickly approaching, and there are a few prom do’s and don’ts the kids need to know before they head out the door. Prom is one of those nights that many teens look forward to since they were little girls.

However, it can also be one of those nights that goes wrong in an instant if they aren’t prepared! Prom being one of the most memorable proms parties in high school, here are some prom do’s and don’ts for prom night.

Prom do’s and don’ts

1. Work on Your Dress Code

Do your homework on the dress code at your school so you don’t show up in something inappropriate. This will avoid any embarrassment or getting sent home early from prom! You want to leave a good impression on everyone around you, not the opposite. Also, make sure your hair and makeup get done appropriately as well, so everything matches nicely together and looks nice.

Prom dress can be formal wear or can be casual wear. It depends on the prom theme and needs to choose the right gown for someone’s body type. For example, if a person’s prom is underwater themed, then she has to wear mermaid formals instead of floor-length gowns which will make her look heavy and not appropriate for underwater themes.

2. What Hair Style Suits a Prom Party?

For hairstyles, choose an easy hairstyle that will save up lots of time. Let someone’s makeup be natural looking because artificial makeup can damage their skin if applied more than a normal amount of makeup. With different hairstyles available, choose those that make a person stand out from the rest. The hair professional proms choose may determine how they appear during the proms’ party. Be sure to get hairdressing services from experienced service providers. Having a hairstyle that matches the dress code can make a proms party colorful.

Do wear a prom hairstyle duet. Prom is all about looking good, and prom hairstyles can really make or break a prom dress! So, if someone wants to wear their hair down, don’t do it in some prom updo because there is no point in wearing a prom hairstyle just for the prom dress when they probably won’t even be able to see the prom hairstyle because of the prom dress!

3. Do Practice a Prom Pose Before Prom Night

Before prom night comes around, make sure you get someone to help with photographing you during different poses so they know the angles to capture your prom dress from! Practice on which pose would be perfect to show your dress and yourself, this would be important on which type of dresses you choose such as ball gown or simple party dresses, the photo shooting angles would be total different. This way they can get just the right prom picture for you that will show off prom dress and prom hair in their highest glory!

During prom night, there are lots of fidgeting, tugging at your dress or hair, and constantly fixing yourself before the images are taken, so make sure whatever prom dress you choose is one that feels comfortable enough to be constantly adjusting throughout prom night!

4. Shoes

Your prom shoes need to be comfortable and stylish. It’s a good idea to wear nice shoes even if you’re going to prom with someone else! A new dress may need a little hem change, or you might want a pair of shoes that match your prom dress. There are many places where you can buy prom-worthy shoes, such as department stores, online boutiques, and shoe stores.

5. Breath Mints & Gum

It’s never too early to take care of your teeth for prom! Bad breath can ruin even the most beautiful prom photos, so having fresh breath is vital when going to prom! If you plan on using a prom dress with a low back, then you’ll also want to use hair removal cream on your back. You can do this a few days before prom or the day of prom. If you’re going to prom with someone else, it’s important to make sure they have everything they need too! Happy prom planning!
