Do you head to bed every night wishing your room was a bit more cosy and warm? After all, the room feels empty and cold, the bed doesn’t seem to be in the right place, and you don’t feel like you can snuggle down in peace and privacy.
That can impact your sleep quality, make bedtimes chilly and more of a chore than the relaxing experiences they should be, and all in all, it’s just plain boring!
So let’s dig into the issue a little. Why is your bedroom not as cosy as you want it to be? Here’s a few of the likely offenders. Before we get started, consider stoves and chimneys to stay cosy and comfy and help you sleep better.

There’s Too Much to Do Before You Can Get into Bed
Bedtime isn’t cosy if it’s just more work! You’re trying to wind down and get into a peaceful, sleepy state here. But instead, you’re pulling loads of scatter cushions and blankets off of the bed, chucking them on the floor, and then you’ll just have to put them all back again in the morning.
Now that might seem like a fine thing to do at first, and not like a lot of effort, but there will come a point where it’s the most frustrating thing in the world!
So get rid of these extra steps, and instead, cover your bed with the kind of bedding you can actually use. That’ll make it a much softer and warmer place to spend your nights!
The Lighting’s a Bit Off
When the lighting isn’t quite right, your bedroom is going to feel overexposed and not private at all. And that might sound like a non-issue, what with bedrooms usually being dark places where you’re trying to sleep.
But if you spend a lot of time in your bedroom, winding down before you go to sleep or simply when you want to relax, it’s going to have a massive impact on the cosiness score!
And the most common issue with bedroom lighting? You’re using an overhead lamp! That blows out the whole space, especially if you’re not using a softer bulb. Instead, try some led floor lamps in the corners, as these will help to ping a more cosy glow around the room.
You Really Could Do with a Rug!
Look down at the floor – is anything missing? If you don’t have a rug down already, the answer is yes! Even if you have carpet in the bedroom, a rug is the best thing for making the space more cosy. The fluffier the better too!
Try to slip a portion of it underneath the bed, so you can step out onto the rug first thing in the morning. On the colder days, that’ll be a very welcoming and warm feeling to greet you!
And with some of it tucked under the bed, there’s more room for the rug, meaning you can get an even bigger one if you really want to!
If your bedroom isn’t as cosy as you want it to be, these are the changes to think about!
