The autumn season is a time for change, for introspection. It is a time for new beginnings, for rediscovering the old. And, of course, for dressing for the occasion! So as the days get shorter, the nights longer, and the breeze colder, it’s time to get cosy Autumn style with hot drinks (pumpkin spice latte, anyone?), and warm clothing.

Read on to find out the easy Autumn style trends you can incorporate into your wardrobe now.

Autumn style colours

Did you know that colours can affect one’s mood? One study in particular found that black may be linked to coldness, but pair it with warmth-inducing colours like orange, and you should be styled perfectly for this autumn.Leather jackets are in Vogue right now and are a staple piece in anyone’s wardrobe, so if you don’t currently own a leather jacket, why not try one out?

Maybe it’s time to change it up a bit and go for a different coloured leather jacket instead of the usual black – brown was found to be similar to black in the colour study, but brown was associated with more calmness. Your look this autumn could incorporate this by adding a brown leather jacket instead of the usual black one to spice things up, yet still keep you chic and warm.

Speaking of browns, a lull makeup look that’s warm and cosy is the go-to this fall – think softness. For instance, a multi use sculpting palette is perfect for creating that soft contoured look that goes with any outfit, but particularly for that warm and velvet look that we’re loving this pumpkin spice season! Shades of green were found to evoke feelings of relaxation in the study, so why not try adding a few hints of green here and there in your outfit to really show the sense of leisure that the autumn season is all about?T

Neutrals vs mood-boosting colours

What colours do you think about when you think of autumn? Neutrals, of course – dull(er) colours like beige, browns, and shades of white that aren’t pure white, are foolproof for fall. They’re calm, cool, and classic signifiers of the autumn season – knitted sweaters and cardigans of these colours are great pieces to add to your wardrobe.

Brighter colours, however, are trending – yellows, reds, pinks, light blues, are perfect as mood-boosters and can add that extra pop of colour to your outfit. PANTONE recently released their London Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2022/2023 colour palette, and whilst colours like Iced Coffee and Peach Caramel are there, colours like Strawberry Cream (light pink) and Waterspout (light blue), almost pastel-like colours reminiscent of summer and spring, are included.

These colours are definitely striking colours that contrast typical autumn colours, but if you want to make yourself stand out and the colours bring a smile to your face, then why not? Bolder colours such as Dragon Fire, a fiery orange, is also part of the palette.

Perhaps you should go for that intense red lip, or dare we say it – the ultimate red or orange hair colour! If that’s not something you see yourself doing, don’t fret! How about using that splash of colour as a handbag instead? Nothing will warm you up, or make you look warmer, than colours like Molten Lava and Dragon Fire added to your style.
