7 ways to freshen up your kitchen this Spring + #win

It must be something about all that sunshine streaming into the kitchen which suddenly makes you think….hmmmm….I think my kitchen could use a little TLC! So if your kitchen looks like it could use a little tidy up or perhaps a bit more loving, here are some ways you can freshen up your kitchen this Spring:

On a budget

Go for the small stuff first

One great option if you’re on a budget is to give your kitchen a face lift by making small changes here and then. The smaller features like lighting, door handles, a spice shelf and taps all make a difference.

Have a good clear out!

As the heart of the home, the kitchen tends to acculmilate a LOT of clutter. If you can’t remember the last time you saw a patch of uncovered worktop space, then your first port of call is to have a big clear of the surfaces and see how zen everything suddenly looks. You can also strip bare the fridge (mine looks like a veritable preschooler art show!), have a good sort out of the your cupboards and if you’ve got the space, think about installing a larder unit.

Get organised

Do you have an under the sink cupboard of chaos? Maybe your spice rack is crying out to be re-organised? Or perhaps your washing up area needs to be re-ordered. Go for small wins that can make a big difference.

Give it a lick of paint

It is amazing what a new lick of paint can do for a room. And if you’re on a tight budget, this can be one of the most cost effective ways to give your kitchen a new lease of life. If you don’t fancy just topping up with the same old shade, check out this list of 17 best kitchen paint colours for some inspo.

More money required!

Fit new cabinet doors

Hands up who’s got cabinet doors falling apart at the hinges? Well I for one have, and and whether they’re falling apart or they are just feeling a bit meh, replacing cabinet doors can be a big difference in your kitchen.

Replace the worktops

Good grief this is the one I need! Although I do love the rustic feel, I think there is a limit to how far you can push things before you just think….ummmmm….you really need replacing. A new kitchen worktop can really shake things up around the place. Push the boundaries and try something new – if you’ve always had wood, why not try limestone worktops instead?

Update the floors

This is another one I have been avoiding for the longest time but again, when your floors start going way beyond rustic farmhouse then it’s time for an update! But fret not…did you know that you don’t need to pull up all the old floor but that you can simply lay new flooring on top? Hurrah!

Are you thinking about giving your kitchen a refresh this Spring? Which of the above have you considered? Do leave a comment and share. And if you found this post useful why not check out these easy kitchen face lift ideas.

  1. I would love to update my fridge freezer this spring because it has seen better days and give my walls a fresh coat of paint.

  2. my kitchen is always the last room in the house to get a makeover and yet the most used room! So it deserves a little love and tlc. Would like to declutter it a bit too at the same time.

  3. I’d like to replace the splash back tiles. They came with the house when we bought it, but they are so old fashioned and dreary.

  4. I’d like to freshen up my kitchen with some pastel colours and new plants, it would really brighten things up!

  5. I seriously need new worktops. Mine are really tired and also, look really dated as I choose a style which was just a little too “of its time”.

  6. With the lockdown we’re in for 12wks due to underlying health problems. We hope to paint the kitchen to freshen it up

  7. I’m planning to sort out my cupboards and make some space so I can get stuff off the work surfaces, as I don’t have much anyway! Then we are going to paint and buy some new accessories and update our appliances.

  8. We had our kitchen re-done last summer, but had to cut back on what we wanted to do due to budgetary constraints. I’m still using an old sideboard to keep our crockery in, as we have no wall cabinets! I’d like at least to get round to painting the sideboard, as it looks a bit shabby compared to the new base units.

  9. I’m in the process of decluttering the kitchen and would like to update my kitchen with new storage jars. They would look great displayed on new shelves.

  10. We’ve not long done up the kitchen but we kept all our old accessories that we’ve had since we moved in many years ago. I would love to get some new appliances that go with the kitchen and tie it all together.

  11. New pans would be amazing! We’ve just had a new kitchen fitted so new shiny pans is what we are missing

  12. Well my kitchen has been in for 25 years so I’d love to rip the lot out and get a new one. But I don’t think it will happen so I’ll probably paint the walls a new bright colour to cheer me up

  13. I’m happy with my kitchen the way it is right now, I love it – but I’d love to be able to go shopping propeerly and fill up the cupboards again!

  14. My cupboards have a really vintage-y spring look as they’re pale blue. So I’d love to complement it with some new decor and decorations.

  15. My kitchen is 8 years old but it still looks great……until you open the cupboard doors. Day 37 of self-isolation and hubby and I have decided we have been putting off decluttering for long enough! Its on next week’s to do list but I won’t hold my breath!

  16. I would love a new splash back around the cooker area. At the moment we using tin foil! Yes, not good. But the house never came with any kind of splash back. So this is what I’d like.

  17. My actual kitchen is fairly new, but I’d love to update it with some modern accessories like storage jars

    • sorry – hit enter too soon!

because I have such a mish mash all hidden away in cupboards, and I’d love them to become “fashionable” rather than just functional

  18. I’d like to install some new lighting and maybe some new blinds as well, help make it brighter during the night and the blinds with held stop the sun from coming in and distracting me while coooking
