I am sure I am not alone when I say that most days I feel like I am desperately seeking some dinner inspiration. I can literally see my family’s eyes rolling at the thought of me wheeling out the same old dinnertime favourites yet again. And if I’m honest, it’s probably killing me inside too. But when you’ve been cooking relentlessly throughout lockdown, with only a weekly takeaway to shake things up, and only the odd restaurant outing on the horizon, something’s got to give. Cue Simply Cook and their cooking box subscription.
Dinner inspiration salvation with Simply Cook
Amid the shambles that is the new norm that we live in, you’d be forgiven for having zero bandwidth for coming up with new culinary escapades for the family. But hurrah for us, because the endless scrolling down Pinterest looking for something – ANYTHING – new to cook is on hold, because we’ve just received our first Simply Cook cooking box…..
Simply Cook – how does it work then?
Simply Cook is a subscription-based recipe box service which provides a monthly cooking box containing four recipes and four nonperishable ingredient kits to enable you to whip up restaurant-quality meals from around the world, with authentic flavour and quality ingredients.
They promise to bring the flavour, all you need to do is add the fresh bits. Offering up quick, easy 20 minute recipes, without any of the brain ache of wondering what to cook, meal planning, or feeling lost in the supermarket without any dinner inspiration.

A closer look at our box
Dear god of dinners, thank you for delivering this unto me! This could not have come at a better time. I have a feeling I’m going to be falling in love with making dinner again thanks to the contents of our box which go like this: Cuban Prawn Pasta, Goan Fish Curry (literally drooling as I write that), Bang Bang Chicken (one of my faves!), and Nasi Goreng (a throwback from my Singapore days).
Because you already have the flavour pots included – for example for the Goan Curry it’s a Goan Paste, Coconut Paste and Spice Blend – your shopping list for each dish is extremely concise (hurrah again!), plus the recipes are so straight forward to follow that even the greatest of village idiots could follow them and come up trumps.

Taking the headache out of meal planning and cooking
At present, I am more concerned about whether I’ll be able to get a COVID test for my daughter if she starts displaying related symptoms rather than what I’m cooking for dinner tonight! With that said, my dinner inspiration is as dead as a dodo. So thank goodness for Simply Cook which has removed the angst of meal planning and cooking at what couldn’t be a better time.
We also love the fact that not only is it great value for money at £9.99 each, but it gets a big thumbs up for having a longer shelf life, being letterbox sized, and also for ease of cancellation.
Now the question is, which recipe shall I start with? The Cuban Prawn Pasta, the Goan Curry, the Bang Bang Chicken or Nasi Goreng? Please cast your vote below in a comment and let me know which you think I should make first!

Ohhh I would LOVE to try this. What a great way to make dinner time easier!
I think subscription cooking boxes are such a good idea. They really add diversity to the menu. I’d like to try Simply Cook after reading your yummy description.
Is this one available in Canada too? I have been looking for something to order this morning actually. I am hunting for a good deal and it needs to be available in Ontario Canada. My teen LOVES these.
I know what you mean when you say you are tired of the same regular meals you make. We are vegan so the choices are narrowed so i need a new menu too.
I am all about making things easier in the kitchen. I will have to try these out. These sound like some tasty flavors.
They all look delicious! But if I were to pick, I’d start with Cuban Prawn Pasta 🙂 PS: Hope your daughter is okay!
We have been wanting to try a meal delivery service. I will check this out!
This sounds like an amazing service. I can’t wait to give this a try.
Simply Cook sounds amazing and this is really a great help for everyone who loves to cook. I will check this out.
Cook the Cuban Prawn Pasta first then send some my way. I love prawn and I love pasta! 🙂

This would be perfect for someone like me who loves to eat isn’t the best cook. The clear step-by-step recipes make it easy to follow. Go with the bang bang chicken.
I love these meal boxes. They really are fun to make and delicious!
That is about as easy as it gets. This is a wonderful way to stay home and get good food.
This sounds like great meal box. It has lot of varities too. I will check it out someday.
I love the idea of Simply Cook. Love that you have a fancy dinner idea without thinking of it too much or going shopping in 10 stores to find all the ingredients. 🙂 I would start with the Cuban Prawn Pasta.
I have never heard of Simply Cook! I may want to give it a try because I love Asian food 🙂
Oh yay! I would want a subscription box like this! I am not a good cook so this is fab!
I’m also Canadian. Do the deliver here? That combination of dishes caught my attention.
