Contrary to our expectations, life is no magical fairytale. It is full of ups, downs and plenty of tough times. Just when you think you have surmounted one difficulty, another one is waiting for you just around the corner. That is why you constantly struggle to keep your head above the water.
Breakup, divorce, illness, death of a loved one, family problems, job loss are just some of the difficult situations and tough times everyone copes within their lifetime.
It is without doubt our positive thinking that helps us navigate through tough times. However, staying positive isn’t always easy. Difficulties put our positive attitude to the test. Still, there are some practices you can adopt and remain positive during tough times – no matter what life throws at you.
Take Care of Yourself
Most people have been working remotely throughout the pandemic. If you are one of them, then you have been spending more time indoors than usual. Since you no longer have to put on makeup, get dressed, and commute to work, chances are you have let yourself go a little. Not practicing self-care is the worst thing you can do to yourself. It damages your self-confidence, appearance, and health in general.
If you want to be strong enough to cope with difficult times, getting enough sleep seems like a good place to start. You can also work out. Workout routines are great for blowing off some steam and clearing out your head from gloomy and negative thoughts. Make sure you eat healthy meals and drink plenty of water. When you’re healthy and rested, there is no obstacle you can’t overcome in your life.

Interact with Coworkers
When you find yourself in a difficult period, you should surround yourself with your loved ones, family, coworkers – anyone that cares about you. You may not be the only person that is affected by the crisis. For example, because of the pandemic, some people have lost their jobs, while others are afraid the same might happen to them.
You and your coworkers might feel the same way. In times like these, it is important to share your fears and openly discuss them with others. It may take some pressure off and ease your mind. For this reason, you have to stay in touch with your colleagues. You can use the intranet to voice your concerns, share experiences, advice, or simply socialize and get your mind off things that are bothering you.
Stay Off Social Media
Thanks to technology and the Internet, it has become incredibly easy to stay informed on the latest events not only locally but globally as well. While being in the know is great in most cases, too much information can be also overwhelming.
To keep a positive outlook on life, you have to stay off social media and the news. They are often toxic, negative, and manipulative. For this reason, they can take a heavy toll on your mental health. If you can’t stay off the news because you want to know what’s going on, then don’t forget to filter every piece of information you receive. This way you can select what is truly informative and worth knowing from fake news and gossip. Therefore, you will preserve your inner peace instead of panicking and worrying.

Remain Positive
You have probably heard this advice already, but it is really true. If you want to weather the storm, you have to stay positive at all times. Just think about how many tough times and difficult situations you’ve dealt with over the years.
It might have taken some time and hard work to get over them but in the end, you came out on top. Don’t forget that every cloud has a silver lining. You may be going through a rough patch right now, but it may end up leading you to a much better place in life than you could possibly imagine. More importantly, no hardship lasts forever. Everything has an end, so does your rough patch. Remaining positive will help you get through difficulties easier.
Let Go of Your Fears
Fear is a powerful feeling. It holds you back from getting or going after things you want. You want a promotion, but the fear isn’t letting you step up and get it. You want to buy a bigger house, but you’re afraid of the mortgage. Because everything scares you, you don’t take any chances in life.
However, if you stand still, then you aren’t living your life to the fullest. To let go of your fears, you have to imagine the worst-case scenario. Then you can think about all the actions you can take to prevent that scenario from happening. Also, you can come up with plans if the scenario comes true. This way, you’ll be prepared no matter what happens. It will save you from unnecessary suffering and pain you might feel when something doesn’t go your way.
Remember, you are the one who holds the key of your own happiness and inner peace. Work on yourself on a daily basis and happiness will embrace you.
