Are you looking for ways to make your bedroom feel luxurious? Well, I’m going to let you into a little secret…you don’t need to live in a mansion or have piles of cash to make your room feel luxurious! With a little bit of home design vision and creativity, you can make your bedroom feel luxurious even if the rest of your house feels like it is descending into chaos.

My bedroom is my haven, and so no matter what calamity is going on in the rest of the house, I know I can always return to my calm little hideaway at the top of the house which feels very luxurious even though the truth couldn’t be farther from it!

Today I’m sharing some tips and hacks which I’ve incorporated to make my bedroom feel luxurious, making it hands down the best place to end a frenetic day.

Invest in some gorgeous curtains

Curtains are a really great and easy way you can make your bedroom feel luxurious. Look for something with a big, bold pattern or an ombre design to add a bit of drama. You could also opt for voile curtains combined with either a blind or another set of curtains for a feeling of elegance.

Create a focal point around something sumptuous

A beautiful dressing table or opulent mirror is a wonderful way of elevating your bedroom, and these should be used to create something of a focal point. Although a dressing table should also serve a purpose the last thing you want is for it to become cluttered and unruly which is all too easy. Be ruthless with what you allow on your dressing table to keep your focal point luxurious. A vase with flowers (fresh or dried), a candle, your perfumes and makeup plus a little bit of jewellery in an organiser and that is it!

If you have space to hang a large mirror and create a focal point around that, then this is an instant way of making your bedroom feel luxurious and chic, as well as making it look bigger. An alternative is to create a focal point around a beautiful carpet.

Display art

Whether you choose one statement piece of art, or choose to display a smaller collection of artworks on an art wall, adding art is a lovely way of making your bedroom feel luxurious. It is also the perfect way to bring colour, texture and character to a bedroom. In this sense, it is both the artwork and frames you need to think about to create the desired effect.

Pimp up your bed

A bed upgrade is a marvellous way of upping your bedroom game. If your end goal is to make your bedroom feel more luxurious, opt for beds with upholstered velvet bedframes or with a statement headboard to make you swoon. Once you’ve got that aspect right, then pile on a thoughtfully curated selection of plumped up pillows, cushions and throws for a luxurious looking bed that you can’t wait to sink into it.

Jazz up your nightstand

Swap out your run-of-the-mill table lamp on your nightstand for a statement design in an eye-catching shape or colour and gorgeous shade. Curate your nightstand by styling it with books, a framed piece of art, a beautiful plant and a candle for a nightstand that says luxury and sophisticated. Again the key here is to resist the urge to dump!

Keep clutter at bay

I’ve mentioned keeping clutter to a couple of times already but I do feel it deserves its own section. Clutter not only looks incredibly unsightly but also makes us feel stressed which equals the opposite of luxurious. Once you have created your luxurious feeling bedroom, it’s important to keep on top of clutter by doing a regular decluttering sweep and investing in items of furniture with storage where you can store (and hide!) things. Just don’t look inside my cupboards!
