20 Christmas wishes every mum has

It’s Christmas time, there’s no need to be afraid….Well actually, I beg to differ here! As much as we would love our personal experience to be all families coming together, presents and music, perfectly decorated houses and trees and love and light, the reality is Christmas can be an insanely stressful time for mums. For all our Christmas wishes, as if we weren’t already busy enough, Christmas puts about ten other layers of stress, expectation, and general do-ing onto our shoulders meaning that the season of giving can leave you feeling ran ragged and joyless.

So spare a thought for us mums and our real-life Christmas wishes this Christmas! We’re all putting on a happy, shiny, smiley face but this is what we are really wishing for….

20 Christmas wishes every mum has

  1. Santa’s Elves actually came round to your house to wrap all the presents and get your Christmas Eve Boxes ready so you didn’t have to. And they bought extra rolls of sellotape and wrapping paper with them!

2. Jamie Oliver would come round and cook your Christmas Day dinner for your family, and nobody would make any suggestions on how it could be improved upon.

3. That you could actually spend Christmas Day with whom and where you want to rather then doing what suits everyone else again and having to pretend hard that your mother in law isn’t driving you up the wall. If only Christmas was more like….

4. Mrs Hinch would come round and personally clean up before and after everyone so you didn’t have to.

5. That someone suggests you put your feet up on Christmas Eve rather than spending it doing a bajillion and one last-minute things.

6. There would be no arguments or tension and everyone would get along like in The Little House of The Prairie.

7. People wouldn’t complain about the contents of the Christmas crackers – they should know the deal by now!

8. The day wouldn’t whizz by in nano seconds making you wonder how come all of the hard work you put in to make the kids deliriously happy was over yet again in a flash.

9. That your tree would actually make it and survive until Christmas day.

10. That you had a PA to help send out hundreds of cards instead of you having to be the personal family secretary.

11. Someone got you a gift you didn’t have to a) return or b) pretend you actually like.

12. You didn’t have to deal with disbelievers trying to kill the magic of Santa for your children

13. You could split yourself in two to keep up with all the extra Christmas commitments and diary dates at school with all those Christmas parties, shopping experiences, lunches, concerts and more.

14. Your children wouldn’t renegade on their Christmas list after you’ve jolly well gone and bought the presents.

15. That you didn’t have to choose between being Buddy The Elf, or The Grinch. Surely there is somewhere sensible in between you could be?

16. You didn’t have to face the embarrassment of making and decorating a gingerbread house

17. Nobody would get sick (yeah right! chance would be a fine thing) and everyone would stay fabulously healthy over the Christmas period.

18. There was such a thing as Christmas childcare or at least a Christmas fairy to wave her magic wand to sort it.

19. A big fat diamond and a mind-blowing orgasm…just kidding!

20. That santa was actually a Chippendale coming down your chimney. Oh my just imagine the scene!

How many of these Christmas wishes will you be making this year? And what other Christmas wishes would you add to this list? Do share in a comment below.

  1. My wish in this list will be to get a gift that I don’t have to pretend I like. I never return them though haha… I always feel it might hurt the giver’s feelings.

  2. Reading this list really made me realize how much work Christmas actually is for moms – moreso than any other people. I feel tired at the thought and we are only just entering December! Fortunately for me, in my house there will only be myself and my partner this year.

  3. These are all great wishes for Mums out there. My only wish is to get to spend the Holidays with the people I love

  4. Arghh I so relate to this! Another one is that Christmas morning would look like Christmas morning on TV shows where you just snuggle in your pjs with hot chocolate watching your kids open their presents and everything is calm and peaceful. In reality the kids wake me up before the sun rises by jumping on me, I go downstairs in a daze and everything is messy from Christmas dinner the night before, I havent had my coffee yet and the kids are already starving…good times lol.

  5. Love this list! I would love a few of these on the list – totally could have written this list!
